Hungary Climate

Hungary’s largely continental climate is moderated by the influence the Eastern-European continental, Western-European oceanic and Mediterranean climate types have on the country. Hungary weather is characterized by the significant variations in temperatures its four seasons experience. January is the coldest month in Hungary, July and August being the hottest.

Daily temperatures also fluctuate greatly. While the annual average is about 12 °C, temperatures in Hungary can swell up to 38 °C and dip as low as -10 °C.
Arriving in early April, spring is often accompanied by a large number of showers.
Summers in Hungary are dry and warm, autumns are cool, foggy and rainy and winters relatively short, dry and moderately cold. However, Hungary’s winters are also renewed for their ability to change towards a sunnier disposition, warmer weather conditions pushing the prevailing cold to the sidelines for a period of a few days at a time. Hungary experiences four rainy periods: the two stronger ones coincide with the early summer and autumn, while the two dryer arrive in the middle of winter and in early spring. The yearly rainfall is about 415 mm.
